Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Winfield, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12s)
Weekends: Every third weekend required
Start Date: ASAP
Facility & Job Requirements
- Locals allowed at the same rate
- No radius restriction
- First-time travelers not accepted; must have prior travel experience
- EMR system: Centricity (preferred)
- Block scheduling allowed on a case-by-case basis (manager review)
- Critical Access facility
- Must be able to jump in after the second shift
Licensure & Certifications
- Must hold a Kansas license or compact license at time of submission (no pending licenses)
- Required certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
Skills & Clinical Competencies
- Assist with sterile speculum exam, NST (Non-Stress Test), reflex checks, sterile vaginal exam, and EFM (External Fetal Monitoring)
- Proficient in IVs, medication administration
- Labor & Delivery management including:
- High risk & vaginal delivery
- Forceps/vacuum assistance
- C-Sections
- Neonatal and newborn care
- Pain management
- Postpartum care
- Surgical cases such as cervical cerclage
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
- Residency declaration form if working on a compact license
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually
- Social Security trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification and transcripts/diploma for highest level of education
- State-specific exclusion checks (Kansas Medicaid exclusion list)
- Required certifications verification (ACLS, BLS, NRP, etc.)
- State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification (for RNs)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology competency
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission training)
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within last 12 months (updated annually)
- Flu vaccination documentation required year-round (declination accepted for medical/religious reasons)
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Performance evaluations if worked over 1 year with previous employer
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
- Internal evaluations preferred if worked over 2 years with previous agencies
This position requires a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse with labor and delivery expertise, ready to work night shifts in a critical access hospital setting. Compliance with all licensure, certification, and health documentation is mandatory prior to start.
