Description
Diagnostic Imaging - Contract Position
Location: Bangor, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
- Operate medical imaging equipment using high frequency sound waves for diagnostic ultrasound imaging.
- Select appropriate machine settings and guide patients into optimal positions for imaging.
- Consistently obtain high-quality images for Radiologist interpretation.
- Understand and utilize PACS (Picture Archive Communication System) for image management.
- Document patient care services accurately in patient and hospital records.
- Interact compassionately and effectively with patients who are sick or injured.
- Use specialized computerized equipment to produce cross-sectional images aiding diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities & Competencies
- Prepare patients for ultrasound exams and special procedures; ensure adequate imaging for diagnosis.
- Consult with Radiologists for exam review before patient discharge.
- Provide ultrasound guidance during special procedures for attending physicians.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and notify Clinical Engineering as needed.
- Verify clinical history, orders, and patient identification using two established identifiers.
- Fully operate ultrasound units and probes to obtain requested anatomy images with correct labeling.
- Demonstrate proficiency with PACS and ability to send images after hours when required.
- Competent in using EPIC electronic health record system.
- Perform high-level disinfection of endocavity probes according to policy.
- Maintain accurate patient records, ensure confidentiality, and adhere to HIPAA standards.
Additional Information
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
- The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
- Travelers living within 50 miles of the facility will receive a reduced local rate.
