Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist (Contract)

Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility Overview

• Serves a large, culturally diverse area including Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute tribes.
• Provides comprehensive inpatient/outpatient emergency services and various surgical specialties.
• Surgical specialties include General Surgery, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Podiatry, Urology for both adult and pediatric patients.

Position Summary

• Rotational scheduling with on-call coverage (night, weekend, holiday) required.
• Assist with positioning, surgical prepping, and draping of surgical patients.
• Set up operating room before surgery, ensuring all equipment and instruments are available and functional.
• Support surgical procedures across multiple specialties.

Requirements

Education & Training

• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician training program accredited by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST),
  OR
• On-the-job training in a clinical healthcare setting or military specialty.

Certification/Licensure

• Must obtain certification within 6 months after 3 years of qualification from one of the following:

  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA 3yr)
  • Surgical Technologist Certification (CST)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT-3yr, 6240 hours)
  • Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C)
• Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association throughout employment.

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
• COVID & Flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted after submitting a declination form.
• Housing application must be submitted 2 weeks prior to start date.

Experience

• Required specialty experience: 3 years (based on certification qualification period).
• No explicit prior travel experience required.
