Job Opportunity: RN Cath Lab (Travel)
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a cutting-edge Cath Lab with new procedures and technology.
- Direct patient care including conscious sedation and monitoring using a Hemodynamic system.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a rotating weekday off.
- On-call expectation: 8 to 10 days per month.
- Night rotation: One night per week (5:30 PM to 7:00 AM) plus one Friday night call every 3 weeks, covering Friday 5:30 PM through Sunday 7:00 AM.
- Call team consists of 2 RNs and 1 Radiologist Technologist.
- Housing must be within 30 minutes for STEMI (heart attack) call.
- Team environment with a mix of Radiology Technologists and RNs.
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel assignment.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of specialty experience (Cath Lab RN).
Certifications & Licenses Required
- BLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate if not electronic.
- ACLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate if not electronic.
- Valid nursing license for Kentucky or compact license valid in Kentucky.
- NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR).
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer; if starting series, first dose required to start, second dose within 28-30 days.
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer; similar dosing requirements as MMR.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, proof of 3 vaccine series, or declination accepted.
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years or declination accepted.
- TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start; annual update required.
- Fit test for N95 respirators (3M Aura N95 and Halyard N95 “duck bill”); PAPR not accommodated. Religious/medical exemptions can be applied for onsite.
- Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 30 days prior to start, including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender, SAM, OIG checks. Annual update required.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (excluding marijuana/THC).
- Verification on Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry within 30 days prior to start.
- Submission packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF.
- Specialty job description signed and dated.
- Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start; renewed annually.
- Competency exams with passing score of 80% or higher within one year of start.
- Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives; renewed annually.
- Employee Health Attestation Form completed prior to compliance deadline.
Additional Notes
- Scrubs and lead apron provided for cases.
- The team is close-knit and supportive.
- Must be capable of safely using N95 respirators and pass fit testing if required.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
