Travel RN Opportunity - Alexandria, Louisiana

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit: L&D / Women’s and Children’s Hospital
  • Beds: 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, 2 ORs
  • Staffing:
    • PRN: 16
    • Full-time: 22
    • Casual/Per Diem: 17
  • Shift Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 6 RNs, 1 scrub tech, 1 secretary
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 5 RNs, 1 scrub tech, 1 secretary
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 2:1 depending on acuity
  • Equipment: Fetal monitors, IUPC, FSE, fluid warmer, IV pumps, epidural pumps
  • EMR Systems: CPN, Meditech

Required Skills

  • Proficient in starting IVs and drawing labs
  • Ability to interpret fetal heart rate strips
  • Proficient in vaginal exams
  • Experience as OB circulator

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to scrub in surgical procedures

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Vaginal deliveries
  • Cesarean sections (C-sections)
  • Amniocentesis
  • Amnioinfusions
  • IUPC/FSE placement

Personality Fit

  • Organized with great time management (Type A)
  • Empathic, caring, and compassionate

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN certification preferred

Licensure

  • Registered Nurse License required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery nursing

Floating Areas

  • Closed unit
  • Float to postpartum and clinical ladder (C/L) areas

Schedule

  • Rotate every other weekend
  • Possible circulator on-call duties

Dress Code

  • Nursing staff: teal scrubs
  • Techs: navy scrubs
