Progressive Care Nurse (PCU) - Prescott, Arizona

Job Overview

• Acute Care RN position caring for patients undergoing cardiovascular and surgical services.
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with 14 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 RN to 3-4 patients depending on acuity.
• Fast-paced cardiac and cardiac surgery care including patients post-cath lab, post-open heart surgery (2-3 days), STEMI, NSTEMI, chronic vents, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, new BiPAP/CPAP patients, thoracotomies, and renal disease.

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Active and in good standing Arizona RN license.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
• Skills required include:

  • EKG knowledge
  • IV cardiac medication administration
  • Peritoneal dialysis
  • Management of chronic ventilators
  • Chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps
  • Transvenous pacing
  • Arterial or venous sheath pulling and care

Equipment and Technology

• Philips Cardiac Monitors, Telemetry
• Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitors
• Invasive monitoring devices
• Medtronic Pacemakers
• Cerner EMR system
• Pyxis medication dispenser
• Zoll R series defibrillators
• Sigma Spectrum IV pumps
• Mistral Air Warming units

Shift and Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
• 3 shifts per week required; option to discuss 4 shifts per week
• Two weekend shifts per pay period required
• Night shifts included

Floating Requirements

• Preferred float to ICU
• Required float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units (involving arterial lines and sheath pulls)

Additional Requirements and Notes

• Radius rule: Candidates must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity).
• Dress code: Navy scrubs and business-appropriate hair color.
• Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
