Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist (MLS) - Travel/Contract

Location: Easton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Shift: Monday-Friday, 5x8 hour shifts, alternating day/evening (07:00-15:30 / 15:00-23:30)

• Flexibility required for rotating shifts
• Holidays required as scheduled
• No weekends or on-call required
• Floating within the department may be required

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in the specialty
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not required
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • ASCP certification required
  • ASCP-MLS and BLS preferred

Key Job Details

• Work schedule involves alternating day and evening shifts Monday through Friday
• No weekend or on-call duties
• May require floating within the department

Required Credentials & Compliance

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal history check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • SSN Trace, County, Nationwide, Sex Offender, OFAC checks
  • Education verification
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start

• Certifications:

  • ASCP (required)
  • BLS (preferred)
  • Other certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI) as applicable or required by unit

• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (80%+ score) as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (80%+ score) for all, including CNAs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam as applicable

• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (including Latex screening)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask models required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes, updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted, series not accepted)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
  • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel depending on facility) within 30-90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location, but documentation or declination collected for tracking

Documentation & Orientation

• Government-issued photo ID required
• I9 or attestation required
• E-Verify or attestation required
• Photo for badge (passport style with solid background)
• Confidentiality agreement and dress code acknowledgment required
• Facility-specific orientation information provided; dress code is Royal Blue scrubs or business casual
• Annual TB risk assessment and access forms must be completed prior to start
• Various facility-specific forms including allergy questionnaires and vaccination declinations as applicable

Work History & References

• Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within last 5 years required
• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
• Employment application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start

This position offers a structured schedule with no weekend or on-call requirements, suitable for MLS professionals with at least 2 years of experience. First-time travel healthcare workers with strong experience are welcome to apply.
