Job Details

• Shift/Hours:

  • 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
• Patient Ratio: 1:5, up to 6 with lower acuity
• Floating: Required within specialty, lower acuity, and sister facility as needed
• On-Call: Not required

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Tele RN)
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Maryland RN State License
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, EFM, STABLE)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I9 or Attestation
• Government Issued Photo ID
• E-Verify or Attestation
• Background Check (7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education Verification
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification
• Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-90 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
  • Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required for 2025-26 season)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children; otherwise facility-specific)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking

Competency Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80%+ score required)
• Color Blind Testing
• Age Specific Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (except certain roles)
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) at orientation (85% required to pass)

Orientation & Facility Specifics

• Orientation held at 8am on Tuesdays at the facility’s School of Nursing
• Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs or business casual during orientation
• Badge photo required (passport style with solid white/beige background)
• Candidates must sign job description, confidentiality agreement, and dress code acknowledgment prior to start
• Various facility-specific forms and questionnaires (e.g., Latex Allergy, Flu Exemption, TB Risk Assessment) must be completed prior to start

References & Work History

• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
• Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within last 5 years required
