Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience (Medical Surgical)
  • Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Large hospital experience required

Shift Details

  • 48-hour or 36-hour shifts
  • Ratio: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients (team nursing model)
  • On-call as needed
  • Weekend shifts as needed (no weekend block scheduling, but weekend block may be considered)
  • First-time travelers NOT accepted
  • Locals NOT accepted (100-mile radius rule)
  • Pending licenses NOT accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except at Children’s Hospital)

Preferred Certifications

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 60 days of start (statewide, county, federal, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
  • Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu)
  • Sex offender search required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search required (for TN facilities)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results allowed)
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 mask within 1 year of start (must pass; facial hair not allowed)
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
    • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (3-shot series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Tdap (only required for Children’s Hospital)
  • TB testing: True 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year, updated annually; chest X-ray if positive
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for onsite candidates during flu season (declinations not accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Two recent professional references required
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be current (within 1 year) and updated annually
  • Photo badge with strict guidelines required prior to start
  • Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidered scrubs, business casual with lab coat for RN Case Managers

Notes

  • All Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission
  • No accommodations for pending licenses; must be fully compliant with licensure requirements
  • No locals accepted within 100-mile radius
  • First-time travelers not accepted; prior travel experience is mandatory

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with trauma and large hospital experience who have prior travel assignments and are ready for a 13-week travel contract in a Level I Trauma Center setting.
