Registered Nurse - Oncology ICC (Columbus, Ohio)

Job Description

  • Unit: Oncology ICC (Infusion Care Center) and Emergency Department (ED) float as needed
  • Patient population includes hematology, oncology, and sickle cell patients
  • Patients are generally more stable than typical ER patients; many discharged home, some admitted
  • ICC schedules appointments based on referrals from primary teams or oncologists
  • Smaller unit fostering strong staff relationships and supportive environment
  • Opportunity to develop diverse nursing skills in a less acute setting

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience required

Certifications Required

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification required (accredited nursing program)
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%, max 3 attempts)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption possible
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination not required but recommended

References & Documentation
