Job Opportunity: Surgical Services Lead RN

Location: Pagosa Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)

Position Summary

• Lead the perioperative team to facilitate patient throughput and ensure adequate staffing.
• Coordinate efficient surgical schedule flow.
• Act as a preceptor and assist in orienting new team members.
• Combine direct patient care responsibilities with administrative functions.
• Work closely with the Surgical Services Manager to oversee, supervise, and schedule clinical support staff (RNs, Technologists, Technicians).
• Participate in the Surgical Services administration team to maintain and enhance surgical efficiencies supporting surgeons, anesthesia providers, and patient flow.
• Responsible for initiation, revision, and/or discontinuation of surgical preference cards.
• Exercise independent judgment to maximize patient safety and maintain clinical quality standards.
• Perform standard surgical nursing functions as needed.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years experience in the OR setting (required).
• Minimum 2 years leadership experience (required).
• Experience with orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT surgical procedures, and interventional pain management (required).
• Gastroenterology / Endoscopy Lab experience (desired but not required).

Certifications & Skills

• Current Colorado RN license in good standing.
• Current AHA BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification.
• CNOR certification.
• CRNFA certification.
• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, electronic health record systems).
• Must have Cerner EMR experience.
