    Description

    Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
    • Candidates with less than 2 years or no experience with C-Sections require manager approval.
    • Intermediate AWHONN certification required for screening.
    • Prior travel experience: Not required (First Time Traveler OK).

    Job Details

    • Float required to Postpartum unit.
    • Care for high-risk antepartum patients (6 to 41 weeks gestation) including PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, substance use disorder in pregnancy.
    • Care for fetal demise or loss patients antepartum and postpartum.
    • Postpartum care for mothers with babies in NICU (no newborns on unit).
    • Support amnio or sterile speculum exams at bedside.
    • Use of PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, syringe pumps.
    • Administer medications including heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate.
    • Circulate for C-section surgeries.

    Certifications Required

    • AWHONN Advanced (required)
    • BLS (required)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (required)
    • ACLS (preferred)

    Skills and Competencies

    • Assist with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation).
    • Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC).
    • Administer anticoagulants, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy.
    • Labor and delivery management including circulating for C-sections.

    Work Setting

    • High Risk Antepartum Unit
    • Postpartum Unit (float)

    Licensing and Background Requirements

    • Active compact nursing license accepted.
    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
    • State-specific searches and verifications as required by Washington state law.
    • Education verification required for all candidates.
    • Drug screen (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual update required)
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Respirator fit testing required for travel candidates (annual update).

    Additional Requirements

    • Must complete Providence WorkRamp training modules as assigned prior to start.
    • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.
    • Skills checklist required annually for applicable units.
