ICU RN Travel Assignment - Kearney, Nebraska
Position Details
- Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Location: Kearney, Nebraska
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: Mid-January (around 1/12)
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (6 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 2 weekends per month (Saturday & Sunday), subject to change based on unit needs
- Holidays: 1 major and 1 minor holiday required
- Floating: Required to float to PCU and Med Surg as needed, first to float
- Patient Population: Adults and pediatric patients under 8 years old admitted to ICU; pediatric patients over 8 years typically in PCU or MedSurg unless ICU level care needed
- Unit Size: 10 beds (average daily census 5+)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2 (lower acuity)
- EMR System: EPIC
- Scheduling: No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedule based on unit needs
- Overtime: Up to 2 extra mandatory OT shifts per 6 weeks
- Scrub Colors: Navy Blue, Black, or Charcoal Grey
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS (required; pediatric experience highly preferred but not mandatory)
- NIHSS
Experience & Skills
- Strong background in cardiac care required
- Experience with balloon pumps and Impella pumps preferred
- Experience with invasive arterial line monitoring preferred
- Comfortable working with diagnoses such as open heart surgery, CHF, COPD, overdose, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, some neuro cases (no ICP monitoring yet), and TeleStroke program patients
- Pediatric experience preferred but not mandatory; manager will evaluate on a case-by-case basis
