Travel RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Brownsville, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Information
- Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care
- Number of Beds: 10 NICU, 8 Stepdown
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 4 RNs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 4 RNs
- Patient Ratios: 1:3 and 1:1
- Equipment Used: HFNC, Vents, SiPAP, HFOV, Central Lines, PIV, Feeding Pumps, IV Pumps
- EMR System: CPN/Meditech
Job Requirements
- Specialty: NICU Level III-IV
- Years of Experience Required: 4 years (highest stated requirement)
- Certifications Required:
- Registered Nurse License
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Preferred Skills:
- Minimum 2 years NICU Level III-IV experience (preferred but less than required 4 years)
- Typical Procedures Performed:
- Intubations (performed by provider)
- Chest Tubes, PICC lines, Central Lines (performed by provider)
Work Environment & Expectations
- Personality Fit: Works well with others, proactive, willing to help
- Floating Areas: Newborn Nursery
- Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
- Schedule: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per month (Friday-Sunday)
