Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (variable days and start times Monday-Friday)

  • Start times: 6:30 AM, 9:00 AM, or 11:00 AM
  • No self-scheduling; start time consistent within the same week
  • Later start times on Tuesdays and Fridays for in-services and team meetings
• Call Requirements:

  • 1 call per 4-week schedule (weeknight or weekend)
  • Weekday call: from end of shift until 7 AM next morning
  • Weekend call: 24 hours (7 AM to 7 AM), rotated among staff and travelers
  • Call response time: 30 minutes (call room available)
• Holiday Call: None
• Floating: None
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Teal scrubs provided

Certifications & Licenses

• BLS Certification required
• Must have Washington State license at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
• CST national certification not required, but must be registered with Washington State
• Graduate of an accredited surgical tech school

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year scrubbing experience required
• Prior travel experience NOT required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Required skills and experience:

  • ENT procedures: FESS (sinus), septoplasty, cochlear implant, tympanoplasty, laryngoscopy, thyroid/parathyroid soft tissue
  • Da Vinci Xi robotic system experience (Gyn, Uro, General surgeries)
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor available

Work Environment & Orientation

• Unit: OR Tech with 22 suites (expandable to 26 across 3 floors)
• Average cases per day: 50-65
• Common cases include: GYN, Urology, Vascular, Plastic, Orthopedics (hips/knees), Neuro, Cardiovascular, Thoracic, General surgery (Breast, HPB, Bariatric), Sports Medicine (Hand, Podiatry), Kidney and kidney/pancreatic transplants, ENT, and complex robotic surgeries
• Orientation: 2 days with HR and OR leadership, including a scavenger hunt and shadowing a surgical tech
• Travelers must bring their own earphones for the first week of orientation (online training onsite)
• Physicians and team are supportive and willing to teach
• Travelers often extend their contracts

Additional Notes

• Parking is not reimbursed; garage parking and public transit options available
• Washington State tax of 1.75% is auto-deducted but can be re-added by the traveler
