Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with Neuro experience (Neuro, trauma, ortho, and robotics experience required)
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers NOT accepted (prior travel experience required)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- EPIC experience required
- Call Requirements:
- 1-2 calls per week (Monday-Thursday), call starts after shift until 7:00 AM next day, 30-minute callback response
- 2 weekend call shifts every 6 weeks (call starts end of shift Friday through 7:00 AM Monday)
- Holidays: call only, as needed by department
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Floating: Not applicable
- Blocked Schedule: Not approved
- Additional Info:
- May care for COVID patients
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
Screening & Interview Process
- Clinical pre-screen to determine fit
- Manager interview required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- PA FBI Fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required, must be finalized prior to start (cannot start with results pending)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series)
- TDAP within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days (PPD not accepted)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Vaccines or positive titers required with booster protocols if titers negative/equivocal
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (declinations NOT accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine or medical/religious exemption/declination accepted
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
- Respiratory Safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (refer to unit/job description)
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required for all RNs except OR and Home Health
- Facility Specific Documents:
- Professional photo for badge
- Various WellSpan Health agreements and attestations (Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Commitment to Health & Wellness, Non-Employee Affidavit, I9 Attestation, Documentation Attestation)
- Completion of WellSpan LMS modules and new hire orientation
- History & References:
- 2 professional references within 3 years
- Most recent resume/application required
- Annual skills checklist required
- Performance evaluations completed onsite during assignment
Important Notes
- Tobacco and fragrance-free environment
- Candidate must be able to meet call and weekend requirements
- Prior neuro experience is mandatory; no exceptions for travelers without neuro experience
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this assignment
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with neuro and trauma backgrounds who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable with call responsibilities and working in a tobacco and fragrance-free environment.
