Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician
Location: Appleton, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Graduate of Surgical Technology program required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Variable shifts: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM or 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Call required based on department needs (including weekends and holidays)
- Experience with inpatient and outpatient surgeries
- Surgical specialties include: General, GYN, Urology, Dental, Plastics, ENT, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Neurosurgery, Vascular
- Experience with robotic procedures preferred
- May need to float to nearby facilities within skill set
Required Experience
- Specialty: Certified Surgical Technician

Required Credentials & Compliance
- Current Surgical Technician certification and license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- BLS (AHA) certification
- Signed Assignment Agreement prior to onboarding
- Completion of Pre-Hire Surgical Technologist Contract Worker Onboarding Attestation Modules
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score, updated yearly
- Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Ascension Criminal Background Check including SSN Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, updated annually
- Ascension EPLS check within 90 days of start
- Ascension Education Verification within 90 days of start
- Ascension Employment Verification for past 7 years, updated annually
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment upon initial assignment and extensions
- Professional references: At least two required prior to first assignment
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start; must meet specific mask requirements and updated annually
- TB Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Additional Notes
- May be required to float to other nearby facilities as needed
- Call responsibilities include weekends and holidays based on department needs
