Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients using the nursing process within established standards and practices.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult specialists, and adjust nursing care to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and re-assessments per policy.
  • Deliver individualized, age-specific care supporting hemostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiologic functioning.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
  • Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; maintain confidentiality; address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs; act as patient advocate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Interact professionally with patients and families; involve them in individualized care planning and update plans daily.
  • Develop and evaluate teaching plans based on patient learning needs, including family education as appropriate.
  • Supervise and allocate work to other healthcare staff involved in patient care.
  • Assist physicians with procedures in the department.
  • Respond promptly to workload changes to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and work environment.
  • Serve as a preceptor to orient new employees.
  • Engage in professional growth through educational programs, literature, in-services, and workshops.
  • Maintain and operate patient care equipment; ensure adequate supplies and proper equipment functioning.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations.
  • Meet all department-specific competencies.
  • Perform housekeeping and assist with patient transportation as needed.
  • Adhere to dress code, infection control, safety, and personnel policies.
  • Serve as team leader and role model for staff members.

  • Care of patients Pre/Post CABG and Interventional Cardiac Procedures
  • Maintain/Pull sheaths, Angioseal/Vasoseal
  • Specialized medications, drips, and titration
  • ACT Machine operation
  • Sedation and pain management
  • Chest tube care and insertion
  • TPN/PPN administration
  • KODA (Kidney Dialysis)
  • Central lines, IV therapy, IVADD, and infusion therapy
  • Information management systems
