Travel RN Opportunity - SICU Unit, Chattanooga, TN

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Critical Care
• Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee
• Unit: SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit)
• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 12
• Patient Ratios: Standard ICU ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients (may vary with acuity)
• Staffing: 1 dayshift secretary, primary RN staffing
• Equipment: Standard critical care equipment plus Impella heart pump, Hemosphere advanced monitoring platform
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: Participative scheduling; minimum 3 weekend shifts per month; block scheduling not guaranteed; manager may move staff to fill schedule gaps
• Floating: Must float to other units within the facility as needed (PCU/Medical Surgical)
• Patient Experience: Nurses expected to explain care and medications, treat patients with courtesy and respect, and respond to call lights timely

Required Skills and Experience

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Cardiac Critical Care)
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; CCRN certification is a plus
• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Advanced Skills:

  • Ability to care for post open-heart surgery patients (minimum 1-2 days postop)
  • Experience with Impella heart pump and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) is a plus
• Procedures Performed: Intubations, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring
• Critical Care Response: Staff respond to rapid response calls and code blue situations

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs required

• Travelers are subject to floating within the facility as needed
• Critical care staff designated to respond to rapid and code blue emergencies
