Description

Job Opportunity: PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
  • Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs and responses.
  • Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team.
  • Initiate and document appropriate protocols and standards of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document accordingly.
  • Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care.
  • Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
  • Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years current experience in an 18-plus bed telemetry/progressive care unit.
  • Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment (prior travel experience required).
  • Ability to work as a team player, be flexible, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.

Certifications & Licensure

  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (must be through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross).
  • Must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia Assessment (BCA) exam prior to or during the first week of assignment. Failure to pass will result in dismissal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic EMR system.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Note: Passing the onsite BCA test is mandatory before starting the assignment. Candidates have one opportunity to retest if they fail initially; a second failure results in contract cancellation.
