Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Snellville, Georgia
Facility Type: Hospital (NICU and Pediatrics focus)


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Patient Population: Neonates to Pediatrics
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Clinical Skills & Experience

  • Experience in NICU and high-risk deliveries required
  • Skills with umbilical cord gases
  • Experience with Draeger and Servo I ventilators
  • Pulmonary toileting
  • ABG (Arterial Blood Gas) interpretation
  • Basic EKG
  • BiPAP, CPAP management
  • Trach collar care
  • Surfactant administration

Work Environment & Scheduling

  • Unit uses Epic electronic health record system
  • Scrub color: Hunter Green
  • Return to Office (RTO) requirement: Maximum 7 days
  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend (unless otherwise specified)
  • Floating: Yes, within facility including adult care and possibly to sister campus
  • Holiday work: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (up to two holidays if three fall within contract)
  • Call requirements: Not specified

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)

Facility & System Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history
  • State license verification required (must be licensed in Georgia)
  • Annual NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP roles
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant screen acceptable under certain conditions)
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start
  • TB testing or chest x-ray within 12 months of start, plus annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Competency exams required for medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness testing
  • Facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct and Dress Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Floating may include adult care units and sister campuses
  • Candidates must be prepared to work major holidays during their assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers

This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with NICU and pediatric experience who hold the required certifications and are comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment with a variety of respiratory care skills.
