Description
Job Summary: Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Candidates with less than 2 years or no experience with C-Sections require manager approval.
- Intermediate AWHONN certification required for screening.
- Prior travel experience: Not required (First Time Travelers OK).
Work Setting & Unit Details
- Float required to Postpartum unit.
- Care for High Risk Antepartum patients (6 to 41 weeks gestation) including:
- Preterm labor (PTL), previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, substance use disorder in pregnancy.
- Care of fetal demise or loss antepartum and postpartum.
- Postpartum mother with baby in NICU (no newborns on unit).
- Support procedures:
- Assist with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation).
- Support amnio or sterile spec exam at bedside.
- Equipment and medication management:
- PCA pumps, PICC/Central lines, syringe pumps.
- Administer Heparin, Insulin drips, Magnesium Sulfate therapy.
- Labor and Delivery management: Circulate for C-section.
Required Certifications
- AWHONN Advanced (required)
- BLS (required)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (required)
- ACLS (preferred)
Scrub Requirements
- Any color scrubs allowed.
- Scrubs provided when floated to Labor & Delivery units.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Education verification required for nursing degree.
- State-specific searches and registry checks as required by Washington state law.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination.
- COVID vaccine or declination.
- Drug screening: 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Respirator safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates, updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Skills checklist required for applicable units, updated annually.
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance).
Training & Modules
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules required prior to start, including:
- Core modules for profession.
- Specialty-specific modules for Labor & Delivery and related roles.
- Annual regulatory modules.
- Epic training modules required for certain regions and specialties.
