Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown/Med Surg Overflow)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Dates: January 26, February 9
- Required Specialty Experience: 2 years (minimum)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have prior travel experience)
- Shift: 36 or 48 hours; schedule may change during interview
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- On-Call: As needed
- Weekend Requirement: As needed; weekend block may be considered but no block scheduling generally
- Locals Accepted: No (100-mile radius rule applies)
- Pending License: Not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
- Special Requirements:
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Large hospital experience required

Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, required for all candidates
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for Stepdown/Tele, ICU, and related units
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RNs except those at the Children's Hospital
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including statewide, county, federal, education verification, sex offender search, and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry (for TN facilities)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending compliance allowed)
- Immunizations:
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination
- TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Fit test for 3M N-95 mask within 1 year of start (no exceptions)
Additional Requirements
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and competency exams must be current (within 1 year) and updated annually
- Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
- Photo badge with strict guidelines required prior to start
- All travel requests (RTO) must be submitted at time of application; no changes after offer
Notes
- No submission to multiple job IDs/facilities allowed; candidates must select one
- No acceptance of candidates with pending licenses or outside the 100-mile radius
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with trauma and large hospital experience who have completed prior travel assignments and are seeking a 13-week travel contract in a Level I Trauma Center setting.
