Job Opportunity: LDRP RN
Location: Williston, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Certifications
- BLS (required)
- Preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Unit Details
- Department: LDRP RN - Float
- Number of L&D Beds: 15 total (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum)
- OR Suites for C-Sections: 1
- Births: Approximately 58 per month
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips
- 1:3 couplet care
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Obstetric/neonates, hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)
- Neonates: Try not to deliver anyone less than 36 weeks gestation
Skills and Responsibilities
- Must be able to read and interpret fetal heart rate strips (EFM System: Traceview/PIP)
- Critical thinking and ability to follow quality metrics
- RNs are required to titrate drips (pitocin, insulin, magnesium)
- Must be able to float to Medsurg and ER as needed
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
- RNs read their own fetal strips
- Use of Philips tele monitors and Meditech EMR system
- No clinical involvement outside of nursing duties specified
Staffing and Scheduling
- Shifts:
- 06:45 - 19:15
- 18:45 - 07:15
- Scheduling: Block scheduling only (no self-scheduling)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call or Standby: Depends on staffing
- Floating: Yes, to Medsurg, ER, or other hospital areas as needed (permanent staff usually float first)
Support Staff
- Nurse Aides/CNAs assist with vitals, transfers, paperwork, patient ambulation, and remain at desk when needed due to locked unit status
- No in-house OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia 24/7
- Respiratory therapy equipment available; RNs troubleshoot but do not manage RT equipment
Orientation and Dress Code
- Unit-specific orientation: 3 shifts
- Scrub color: Maroon surgical scrubs provided on unit
Additional Notes
- Successful nurses are adaptive to change, good critical thinkers, and effective communicators
- Radius rule: Candidates must be within 50 miles and not have worked full time, part time, or PRN with any associated facilities within the past 12 months
- Return to Office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approvals after submission
This position is ideal for experienced LDRP RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable with high-acuity obstetric care and flexible floating assignments.
