Job Opportunity: Diabetes Foot Care Specialist RN
Location: Albany, Oregon
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
The Diabetes Foot Care Specialist RN provides comprehensive foot care services focused on prevention, early detection, and patient education. Responsibilities include foot assessments, routine treatments, footwear evaluation, and care coordination for further medical attention.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and annual foot assessments, including diabetes history and medication review
- Examine foot structure, circulation, skin, and nails; document findings
- Provide routine foot care such as nail trimming, filing, and reduction of thick nails, calluses, corns, and ingrown nails
- Inspect footwear for safety and proper fit
- Refer patients to medical providers as needed
- Educate patients on foot care, prevention, and available resources
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record
Qualifications
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license (required)
- Healthcare Provider BLS certification (required)
- Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE/CDCES) preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience as an RN or RD, with emphasis on diabetes care and/or chronic disease management preferred
