Registered Nurse: RN Cardiovascular Stepdown

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Specialty: Cardiovascular Stepdown Nursing (Cardiothoracic Surgery and Interventional Cardiology)
Employment Type: Clinical-Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

32-bed surgical step-down/progressive care unit
Focus on cardiothoracic surgery and interventional cardiology
Patient populations include LVAD, innovative valve replacement, pectus excavatum, and post STEMI
Nursing care involves management of cardiac arrhythmias, titration of multiple IV medications, and conscious sedation for cardioversions
All nurses are ACLS certified and have completed ECG interpretation courses
Follow AACN Progressive Care Guidelines
Specialty skills include chest tube removals, femoral arterial line removals, complex external pacing, ACT and iSTAT point of care testing

Required Skills & Experience

Ability to provide age- and culturally-specific patient care and education
Effective communication with peers and maintaining confidentiality
Competence with evidence of continuing professional growth
Ability to accept and implement change and work in a culturally diverse setting

Education Requirements

Required: Diploma of Nursing
Preferred: BSN
