Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Colville, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (1st timers accepted)
- Shift: Primarily evenings to nights with variable start times (10 AM, 12 PM, or 7 PM)
- Floating: No floating between units
- On-call: Not required
- Weekends: Yes, rotating
- Block Schedules: Not required
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 based on acuity
- Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital, no trauma center
- Beds: 25 staffed beds
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: No fee
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI) – verify with clinical leadership
Licensure & Verification
- Valid State RN License required
- NURSYS Verification required for all RNs
- Must comply with Washington state-specific licensing and demographic attestations if working with out-of-state compact licenses
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask Test: Required for travel nurses, must be updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer, declination accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer, declination accepted
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required for nursing degree
- Employment application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
- State-specific background checks and registries as required by Washington law
Competencies & Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists (updated annually)
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules:
- Pre-start requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for ER and other clinical roles
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Regional and facility-specific training modules
- Epic training modules required for electronic health record proficiency
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to nearby Providence facilities
- Shift flexibility and manager support to ensure adequate rest for travelers
- No 48-hour shifts approved
