Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery (Travel)
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years current Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience
- Must have Kentucky or compact nursing license
Certifications & Licenses Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA card front and back if not electronic
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required for all RNs except Psych and Med/Surg units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Nursing license verification (Kentucky or compact for KY facilities) – must be current within 30 days of start
- NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR and Psych)
Immunizations & Health Requirements
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose of series prior to start)
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose of series prior to start)
- Tdap vaccination valid for 10 years (declinations accepted)
- Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
- QuantiFERON TB blood test within 1 year prior to start
- Influenza vaccine required during Sept 1 - May 31 (medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation; declinations not accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Work schedule: 36 hours worked / 48 hours off per two-week pay period
- Ratios may fluctuate based on census and call-ins
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer
- Submission of candidate to only one job at a time
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days prior to start, including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG
- Drug screen (excluding marijuana/THC) required annually
- Verification of education and employment (7 years relevant experience required to verify)
- Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start (Kentucky)
- Two professional references required (one charge or higher, one supervisor) within the last year
Competency & Skills Testing
- Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start
- Competency exam specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start (actual documents required, no certificates)
- EKG and Telemetry exams specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start
- Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives (annual update required)
