Job Summary: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (OR RN)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (No first-time travelers; travel experience is a hard-stop requirement)
- Shift: Start times 7:00 AM or 11:00 AM PST; primarily 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, possibility of 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM with advanced notice
- Floating: No floating between units
- On-call: Yes, 1 weeknight per week and 1 weekend every 6 weeks (on-call only for weekends)
- Weekends: On-call only
- Block Schedules: Not required
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
Clinical Requirements
- Proficient in circulating for:
- Orthopedics (total joints/trauma)
- General surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Vascular
- ENT
- OB/GYN (including C-section)
- Plastics
- Robotics (DaVinci) experience preferred
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Epic (Epic experience is a hard-stop requirement)
Facility Type
- Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
- Total Staffed Beds: 104
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
- State License verification and NURSYS verification required
Note: Certifications must be from approved organizations (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation where applicable).
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required for all candidates
- State-specific searches required for Washington (WSP/WATCH) and Oregon (OBRA Registry for CNAs)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Fit mask testing required annually (3M 1860, 1860S, 1870+ masks accepted; some regional variations)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
- Skills checklists updated annually (applicable units)
- Epic training modules completion required prior to or shortly after start
- Providence WorkRamp modules:
- Pre-start requirements for all caregivers
- Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, and leadership roles
- Annual regulatory modules
- Regional and facility-specific modules as applicable
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Any color allowed on all units
- Parking: No fee
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application required with at least last 5 years of employment history
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with prior travel experience and proficiency in Epic EHR, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a Level III Trauma Center in Washington.
