Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule & Requirements
- 3 shifts of 12 hours each, nights
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed
Experience & Certifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with Cardiovascular ICU/Open Heart experience
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2+ years in CVICU/open heart
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers with extensive experience considered
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Government Issued Photo ID
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually
- SSN Trace, Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender, OFAC
- Education Verification
- Maryland State Exclusions List (Medicaid Sanctioned Providers List) within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification for highest level of education
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
- Fit Test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable)
- Drug Testing: Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Medical/Religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccine not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as applicable
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out Form (time sensitive; may test out of Epic training if eligible)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style with solid white/beige background)
- Signed job description prior to start
- Badge application within 72 hours of signing contract
- Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start
- Dress Code reviewed prior to start
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire completed by all candidates
- References: Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment Application/Resume completed within 30 days of start
- Work History Verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)
This position is suitable for experienced CVICU/open heart RNs, including first-time travelers with the required specialty experience. The role requires night shifts, weekend and holiday coverage, and flexibility to float within related units.
