Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: North Charleston, South Carolina

Position Details
- Unit: 23-hour Observation
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Thursday
- Weekend Requirement: No
- On-call Requirement: No
- Overtime: Not allowed
- Floating: Yes, within scope and to sister facilities (downtown, Main, West Campus)
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; no call-outs allowed
- Block Schedule: Possible with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- Radius Rule: 60 miles
- Locals: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Experience: Required (no first-timers accepted)
- Licenses:
- South Carolina RN license (State or Compact) required before start
- Nursing license in good standing
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- PALS (required for pediatric units except Peds OR; preferred for Peds OR)
- BLS (AHA or ARC only)
- Additional Certifications (as applicable):
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – not required for ER RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Competency Exams: Required, including medication/pharmacology competency and unit-specific competency exams
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
Orientation
- Unit orientation conducted onsite
- Orientation hours: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, business casual attire, no posing or side views
- Facility Specific Documents:
- First Day Instructions and OurDay Modules must be completed before orientation
- COVID vaccination records (if available) and flu vaccine documentation (during flu season) must be uploaded into facility system
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Vaccinations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
- Annual flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters may be accepted as per facility policy
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Test: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days; if positive, chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
- Additional Health Requirements:
- Sterile Processing Techs require specific physical assessment and lab panels (CMP and CBC with differential)
- Radiation Badge: Not required for this position
Additional Notes
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at the time of start (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start accepted)
- Pending state licenses are not accepted; SC license must be in hand prior to start
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application and approved based on facility needs
- Travelers must comply with facility policies and complete all required modules and documentation before starting orientation
