Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

  • Float Pool position primarily in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) during day shifts
  • May float to any stepdown/PCU area or other campuses (Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, Dodd)
  • May be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Estimated patient ratios: 1:3-4

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Skills required: IV start, Telemetry experience
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) but not specified for this role
  • Unit-specific competency exams required, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must be current within 1 year and updated annually)

  • License verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring required
  • Education accreditation verification required (accredited nursing program graduate)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual, dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
