Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
Number of Beds: 36
Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
Staffing: No unit secretaries or CNAs; direct patient care required
Equipment Used: Ventilators, Artic Sun, Rapid infusers, CRRT machines, IV med pumps, SCD machines, Cooling blankets, Glucometers
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling:
- Days: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Nights: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Floating Policy: Floats to all ICUs and Intermediate Care (IMC)

Required Experience & Skills

Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU-level unit
Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certification
Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Clinical Skills:
- Experience with ventilators, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, CPAP
- IV medications including Levophed, Epinephrine, Insulin, Neo-synephrine, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Propofol, Precedex, Fentanyl, Versed, Amiodarone, Lidocaine, paralytics
Advanced Skills: Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), hemodynamics, Pulmonary Artery (PA) catheter management
Procedures Performed on Unit: Intubation, chest tube insertion, bronchoscopy, EGD, colonoscopy, wound debridement, line insertion

Additional Information

Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
Awards: Daisy Team Award recognized unit
Work Environment: Exposure to advanced equipment and technology; experienced staff; flexible scheduling options with weekend shifts
