Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (NICU RN - Level II NICU)

Location: Montclair, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU Level II)
  • Shift Options:
    • 3x12 hour shifts
    • 4x12 hour shifts (block schedule if needed)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Documentation System: EPIC
  • Scrubs Provided: Blue scrubs provided
  • Travel Radius: 50 miles
  • Unit Accepts: First-time travelers

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1.5 years as a Registered Nurse in NICU
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – as applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – as applicable

Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online version accepted)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors; annual completion required)

Licensure & Verification

  • Primary source online verification of state license required
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license
  • Education verification required (highest level of education)

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check required upon hire
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive for certain states; not applicable here)
  • Work history verification for 7 years (NJ requires minimum 1 year verified with no gaps over 30 days)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (if positive TB test)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters if negative/equivocal
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (dose 1 and fully vaccinated)

Additional Notes

  • References: Not required for clearance but 2 professional references recommended for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles
  • Complete application/resume required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
