Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Facility Type: Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short term, Acute Care

Position Details

  • Specialty: MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Floating: Required within MS/Tele, PCU, lower acuity settings, and float to ED (Emergency Department)
  • Ratios: 1:5 (possible 1:6) in ED
  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule (may vary by unit)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
  • Locals Accepted: No (no locals within 75 miles)
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes (NM license can pend at time of submission)
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: More than 10 days off requires approval
  • Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours (36, 40, or 48 hours per week); facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC, RQI not accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC, RQI not accepted
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI, MOAB for Behavioral Health)

  • IV starts
  • Telemetry monitoring

Facility & Work Environment

  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Scrub color: Black (not provided)
  • Parking: No fee
  • OT: Overtime paid after 48 hours (for contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless done within past 12 months)
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • Drug screen negative within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations required:
    • Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
    • Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
    • Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
    • Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
  • Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted via facility-specific form

Documentation & Compliance Forms

  • Social Security card may be requested
  • Valid non-local driver’s license required (identification cards not accepted)
  • Work history verification for 3 years required
  • Two professional references within 3 years required
  • Skills checklist required
  • Various facility-specific compliance forms and attestations required prior to start (e.g., traveler compliance form, confidentiality statement, emergency contact form, Cerner training attestation)

Additional Notes

  • Floating is an expectation to meet facility needs within scope of practice
  • No locals accepted within 75 miles radius
  • Facility operates at over 100% capacity
  • Candidates must complete Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam with passing scores for certain units
  • MOAB certification required for Behavioral Health units; can be obtained onsite if not held prior to start
  • Candidates must review and sign various attestations and complete required training modules during orientation

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of MS/Telemetry experience who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts, and who meet the certification and compliance requirements listed above.
