Registered Nurse (Behavioral Health/Psych) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Clarksburg, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), weekdays, every other weekend
Patient Population: Adults
Unit Ratios:

• Adolescent: 1:8
• Adults/Forensic: 1:15-20 (depending on unit)

Job Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1+ year in specialty (Behavioral Health/Psych)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Certifications Required:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – can be obtained during orientation if not already certified
  • First Aid – can be obtained during orientation if not already certified
• EMR System: Avatar
• Scrubs Provided: Blue (Navy or Royal Blue)

Important Notes

• Fingerprinting must be completed in West Virginia at least 7-10 business days prior to start. Candidates must be available to arrive early to complete this state-mandated requirement. Results take 5-7 days and are required before starting.
• Holiday requests for time off should be limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays.
• Travelers fill in for uncovered shifts; block scheduling requests are not accommodated.
• Strict attendance policy: Absences of 3+ consecutive days require doctor's verification and medical clearance before returning to work.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of RN license verification (NURSYS verification required)
• 3 professional references within the past 2 years
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification or official transcript (diploma not accepted)
• WV Cares Fingerprinting (mandatory, no exceptions, no reimbursement)
• Photo ID (government issued) carried during hours of service
• Employment application or unbranded Aya employment application for APN candidates
• Performance evaluations if worked over 1 year with the agency
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
• Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; if negative/equivocal, must start vaccine series and complete declination form
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer or vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, must start vaccine series and complete declination form
• Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; if negative/equivocal, must start vaccine series and complete declination form
• Seasonal Flu vaccination required annually (with medical or religious exemptions accepted only upon facility approval)

Orientation & Onboarding

• CPI and First Aid training can be completed during orientation if not already certified
• Paycom & Relias onboarding modules must be completed prior to in-person orientation (8-20 hours to complete)
• Failure to complete modules may result in being sent home or contract cancellation
• Passport-style photo required for badge

Additional Facility Policies

• Facility is strict on call-outs due to previous staffing challenges
• Time-sensitive forms related to fingerprinting and background checks must be completed promptly
• Flu medical and religious exemption forms require facility approval and must be submitted on facility-specific forms

This position is ideal for a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience, comfortable working night shifts in an adult psychiatric setting, and able to comply with West Virginia state fingerprinting and facility-specific onboarding requirements. Prior travel experience is not required.
