Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: Radiation Therapist
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM (8.5 hours with 30-minute lunch)
  • Holiday Weeks: 10-hour shifts to accommodate 40 guaranteed hours
  • On-call: No
  • Weekends: No
  • Expected Weekly Hours: 40
  • Dress Code: Scrubs (black pants, any top)
  • Onboarding Week: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Ohio State License
  • ARRT in Radiation Therapy Technology

Experience & Skills

  • Must be fully competent with Varian TruBeam linacs, Halcyon, and Aria version 15
  • Preferred knowledge of Vision RT or OSMS (VisionRT experience is nice to have but not required)
  • Required skills: TrueBeam, Halcyon, Aria

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start (including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide, sex offender, MVR if driving)
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification required
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Unit-specific competency exams may be required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs/LVNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs (with remediation process if failed)

Notes

  • No weekend or on-call shifts
  • First week onboarding hours differ (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Dress code is scrubs with black pants and any top
  • Background and fingerprinting processes are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to or at start
  • Facility-specific compliance and training documents must be reviewed and signed annually
