Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Assess patient needs based on history, observation, physical exam, and diagnostic data.
- Delegate, supervise, and evaluate team members while managing urgent or emergent situations.
- Provide nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician’s medical plans.
- Complete Safe Surgery checklist verification using service excellence standards.
- Accurately and timely document all care information.
- Use appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff, including duties within or outside the sterile field.
- Prepare the operating room and position patients for procedures.
- Serve as communication liaison to family and operating team members.
- Participate in call as scheduled.
- Demonstrate professional growth through goal setting and educational participation.
- Assist in supply and equipment control and maintenance.
- Perform circulating duties efficiently and quickly.
- Utilize computer programs related to patient care delivery.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- BLS (AHA only)
- ACLS (AHA only)
- Nursys License Verification (within 30 days of start)
- Primary Source License/Certificate Verification (state-specific registry)
- Driver's License/State ID (valid and up to date)
- Social Security Card (copy required)
Required Health and Immunizations
- MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): 1st within 1 year, 2nd within 30 days of start; negative Q-Gold or Tspot within 90 days prior to start also acceptable
- Fit Test: Recommended for travelers, to be completed within a year of start (optional)
- Influenza Vaccine: Required September through April; medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case
Additional Requirements
- Criminal Background Check: Must include county, statewide, national search, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS Trace, and education verification; done within 60 days of start covering last 7 years, updated annually
- Employment Verification: 5 years required
- Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screening completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted)
- Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually
- Resume/Profile Submission: Required for submission; references preferred but not required
- Confirmation of Assignment: Standard form required
