Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract assignment in an acute care setting.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar area to the pending assignment.
  • References: 2 references required from employment within one year of start, from a Manager, ANM, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director.

Licensure & Certifications

  • State Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start. License must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for most clinical areas (e.g., ICU, Med/Surg, Dialysis, etc.).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, Pediatric OR; preferred but not required for PACU.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN, and NICU.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred but not required for ER.
  • Tech Certification: Required for CVOR (NBSTSA or NBSTSA-CST).
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred for certain units; must be updated annually.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for all bedside RNs (except OR) during orientation.
  • Competency Exams: Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting.
  • Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Education verification required for all candidates.
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam. Must confirm ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit Mask: N95 fit test required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Immunizations:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (declinations not accepted).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; booster if titers negative or equivocal.
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination documentation required.
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; booster if titers negative or equivocal.
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31). Declinations not accepted.
  • Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually. Instant drug screens not accepted.
  • Eye Exam: Required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later.

Onboarding & Training

  • Completion of all required online training modules prior to clearance to start. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for pass/fail exam during orientation.
  • Pass/fail EKG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation.

Additional Notes

  • Application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care.
  • Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending but must complete fingerprinting prior to start.
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
