Job Opportunity: RN - Cath Lab
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cath Lab, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will supervise licensed and non-licensed staff, assess and develop care plans, and focus on quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. The role includes mentoring and precepting staff, applying evidence-based practice, and participating in quality and safety improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to staff, mentor and precept team members, encourage teamwork, and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in regulatory compliance and Practice Governance activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience (highest required years of experience).
- Experience with procedures including:
- Left and right diagnostic and interventional heart catheterizations
- Pacemaker and AICD implants
- Loop recorders, Impellas, balloon pumps
- Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), cardioversions, tilt tables
- STEMI patient care
- Peripheral IV access
- Patient ratio typically 1:1.
- Familiarity with equipment such as IV pumps, groin and radial sheaths, Impellas, balloon pumps, IVUS, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, Zoll monitor, and hemodynamic systems.
- Experience with EPIC charting system.
Prior Travel Experience
- No prior travel experience required.
