Occupational Therapist (Rehabilitation Therapy)

Location: Elmhurst Township, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist provides therapy services to help residents maximize their functional abilities and independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures under physician or healthcare provider orders.
• Evaluate residents and develop therapeutic plans with long- and short-term functional goals.
• Provide ADL training including assistance with bathing, dressing, oral care, hair care, ambulation, mobility, and positioning.
• Use mechanical lifts and proper body mechanics as appropriate.
• Collaborate with residents, caregivers, physicians, and healthcare team members regarding therapy and discharge needs.
• Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on resident progress.
• Document all interactions and treatments in the EMR clearly and accessibly.
• Recommend and instruct on assistive devices.
• Provide education to residents and caregivers, documenting responses.
• Refer residents to Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants as appropriate and collaborate with therapy professionals.
• Comply with Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement regulations.
• Supervise assistant-level staff and ensure adherence to state and professional standards.
• Mentor new staff during orientation.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection control in clinical areas.
• Maintain required licenses, certifications, and complete annual compliance courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
• Licensed Occupational Therapist in Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent time management and documentation skills.
• Compassionate, resident-centered care approach.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to understand and follow written instructions in English.
