ICU/Tele RN Travel Assignment - West Virginia

Location

• City: Ranson, West Virginia
• Facility: Community hospital with a 6-bed ICU/Telemetry unit (10 beds total: 5 ICU & 5 Telemetry)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule & Shifts

• Mostly day shifts with occasional night or evening shifts
• 12-hour shifts: 7am - 7pm / 7pm - 7am
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule (Nights: Fri/Sat, Days: Sat/Sun)
• Holidays: Work integrated into permanent staff holiday rotation
• Travelers cannot self-schedule but block schedules may be accommodated if unit needs are met

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3-5 depending on acuity
• Nurse aides: 1 PCT with ratios 1:10; tech coverage changes between day and night shifts
• Tele/Monitor techs present; Phillips Cardiac Monitors used
• Drips, vents, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen available
• Hospitalist coverage 7am-5pm; family medicine resident covers after hours
• Respiratory Therapist (RT) available 24/7
• Pharmacy not in-house 24/7 but kits available for high-frequency drips; external pharmacy support accessible
• No dedicated IV team
• Floating to MedSurg with full assignment (ratios 1:5-6) may be required but is rare
• Floor-specific orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor

Patient Population

• Variety of patients including trauma, bowel obstructions, COPD, vented overdoses, COVID-19
• SCU/Telemetry unit has served as the COVID unit with an average daily census of 9 patients

Requirements & Certifications

• Current West Virginia RN license
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (NIHSS certification is a plus)
• COVID-19 vaccine required (2 Moderna/Pfizer shots or 1 J&J shot) or approved medical/religious exemption
• Must provide own scrubs (navy blue, neat and clean; jackets allowed in navy, grey, or black; no sweatshirts/hoodies)
• Hair must be natural color; excessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered
