Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM, Friday through Monday (48 hours, firm)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse with Emergency Room (ER) experience
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years ER experience without prior travel
    • OR minimum 2 years ER experience with prior travel (prior travel experience accepted)
  • Licensure:
    • Must have Tennessee or compact nursing license in hand (no pending licenses accepted)
    • Must be compliant with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
  • Location Restriction: Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (strict requirement)
  • Facility Type: Large hospital with Level 1 trauma experience preferred

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only; required for ER
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only; required for all candidates except certain allied health roles
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RNs at this healthcare system (except pediatric hospital)
  • Other Certifications:
    • PALS not required for ER at this facility
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background Checks:
    • Must include statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
    • Sex Offender Search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry (TN only) required
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
    • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (proof of vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
    • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending tests accepted)
    • Fit mask test (3M N-95) within 1 year of start, required for certain roles
  • Competency Exams: Must be current within 1 year and updated annually (medication/pharmacology competency required for case managers)
  • Photo for Badge: Strict guidelines for badge photo submission (recent, plain background, no glasses glare, no head coverings unless religious, no piercings visible)

Additional Notes

  • Only one job submission per candidate allowed at a time for this facility
  • Return to Offer (RTO) documentation required at time of submission; no RTO accepted after offer
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
  • Two recent professional references required
  • Internal performance evaluations required if employed with agency for one year or more

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses who meet licensure and travel requirements and are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity, Level 1 trauma hospital setting.
