Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Travel/Contract)
Location: Dover, Ohio
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum of 18 months permanent Labor and Delivery experience prior to travel
- Minimum of 18 months recent Labor and Delivery experience in home unit
- Highest required years of experience: 18 months
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Certifications must be current; renew if expiring within 30 days of start
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned
Job Requirements & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks required prior to start and must be updated annually
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
- Fit mask (N95) fit test required within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B documentation
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- References: 2 professional references from within 1 year, from supervisors or managers
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) required onsite during orientation for bedside RNs
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online onboarding and training modules prior to start is mandatory
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
- Candidates cannot skip training videos before tests
- Orientation includes pass/fail medication and EKG testing
- Various facility-specific checklists and acknowledgements must be completed on day 1 of orientation
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Physical exams and immunizations must include official documentation and addresses of providers
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need updated physical exams, chest X-rays, and eye exams
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- Drug screens must be standard 10-panel; instant drug screens are not accepted
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, ready for a 13-week night shift travel assignment with a reputable healthcare system.
