Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist (Travel/Contract)
Location: River Falls, Wisconsin
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Responsible for outpatient orthopedic, neurological, and acute care patients in a regional hospital setting.
- Some hand therapy support, but less emphasis.
- Acute care comprises 30%+ of responsibilities.
- Work with a team of 7 Physical Therapists and 1 Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- No weekend or on-call requirements.
- Floating within scope as needed to meet facility needs.
- Block scheduling accommodations available.
- Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted.
- Pending license candidates accepted.
- Return to work restrictions ideally no more than 5 days.
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required).
- Certifications required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minnesota OT License
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) number required.
Facility & Work Environment
- Outpatient Rehabilitation facility with 56 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Epic (Excellian).
- Free parking available.
- Facility is latex-free.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check required within one year of start date (including MN statewide search and other standard checks).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year.
- Fingerprinting via Minnesota DHS Net Study required prior to start (no starts allowed with fingerprints pending unless specific clearance letters are provided).
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (documentation required before or shortly after start)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing not required for client clearance but must be within 1 year if done.
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start for fit testing.
Training & Competency
- Completion of facility-specific preorientation modules within 72 hours of receiving login credentials (3-9 hours depending on specialty).
- Annual medication and competency exams required.
- Skills checklist required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must submit a passport-style photo for badge within 48 hours of signing contract.
- Background check disqualification standards allow petty misdemeanors and traffic violations; felony charges require approval.
- Candidates must complete the Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract to initiate fingerprinting.
- Candidates must be prepared to travel to a livescan fingerprint location if not within driving distance of Minnesota sites.
This position offers a structured weekday schedule with no weekends or on-call duties, suitable for Occupational Therapists with at least 2 years of experience seeking a travel contract in outpatient rehab and acute care settings.
