Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN - Nights)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Start Date: January 26, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Patient Population: Adult/Geriatric; Adolescents with Tanner score > 4 (prearranged admission)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted with at least 1 year healthcare professional experience and strong skills
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Maryland RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred, required as applicable
  • Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE (refer to unit/job description)

Job Details & Unit Information

  • Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
  • Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
  • On-Call: Pre-scheduled on-call shifts not required
  • Procedures: Complex surgeries including total joints, cervical/lumbar spine fusions, foot/ankle, head/neck, colorectal, hepatobiliary, urology, and gynecology
  • Skills: EKG and telemetry monitoring; RN should know rhythm basics
  • Equipment: IV, PCA, PCEA, Capnography, wound vac
  • Communication tools: HCHAPS, White Boards, Bedside shift report, secure text messaging

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
  • Drug testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year prior to start
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
    • Tdap (required for units working with children or newborns)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray updated annually
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination (series not accepted)
  • COVID vaccine not required but exemptions accepted for tracking purposes

References & Work History

  • Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager; charge RN acceptable if directly supervised)
  • Employment verification for previous 5-7 years required (attestation accepted if necessary)
  • Agency application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to sign facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, job descriptions, and dress code acknowledgment prior to start
  • Facility-specific training and competency exams required as applicable (medication, pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, age-specific competencies)
  • Respirator questionnaire and other health questionnaires may be required
  • Candidates should be aware of time-sensitive document submissions and orientation requirements

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a specialized MS/Telemetry unit with a diverse patient population and complex surgical cases. Night shift nurses with strong clinical skills and required certifications are encouraged to apply.
