Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN - Nights)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Start Date: January 26, 2026 (must be onboarded by February 9, 2026)
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 PM - 07:30 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted (prefer candidates with more than 1 healthcare facility experience)
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Patient Population & Diagnoses

  • Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric patients
  • Diagnoses include General/All Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Oncology (including joint/ortho), non-titrating cardiac drips

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

  • 1:5

Job Duties & Expectations

  • Floating within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
  • Weekends and holidays coverage required as scheduled
  • On-call: Not required

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Maryland RN State License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for Tele units) - must be updated annually

Additional certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE).


Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and Maryland State Exclusions List
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray per facility guidelines, updated annually
  • Drug testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
    • Tdap required if working with children or specific units
    • COVID vaccine not required but exemptions accepted for tracking purposes
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (declination accepted only for Hep B)
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year prior to start, must be done before arrival
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager, one can be a charge nurse)
  • Employment history verification for previous 5-7 years

Additional Notes

  • Facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreements, badge photos, respiratory protection questionnaires, and IT confidentiality agreements must be completed prior to or shortly after start
  • Medication and competency exams required as applicable, with minimum passing scores
  • Candidates must be prepared to sign job descriptions and facility policies prior to start

This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a specialty MS/Tele unit with a diverse patient population and requires strong clinical skills, appropriate certifications, and compliance with thorough credentialing and health requirements.
