Registered Nurse - Cardiac Surgery (Pre-Surgical Visit Nurse)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract (Temp to Hire)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position: Pre-surgical visit nurse in a cardiac surgery outpatient clinic
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (no weekends, no nights)
- Setting: Outpatient Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic
- Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
- Attire/Scrub Color: To be determined
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year (2 years inpatient or cardiac clinic experience preferred)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Licensure: Washington RN license in-hand required (no pending licenses accepted)
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Certifications & Skills Required
- Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Skills:
- Interpretation of laboratory results
- Obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG
- Patient teaching
- MRSA swabs
- Discharge planning
Patient Population & Responsibilities
- Patient Diagnoses: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Aortic Valve Disease (AVD), Mitral Valve Disease (MVD), Tricuspid Valve Disease (TVD), Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia (IST), Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB), Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFeEF)
- Responsibilities include extensive patient education, clinical result interpretation, communication with surgeons and schedulers, performing EKGs and MRSA swabs, and discharge planning
- Patient population is fragile and often anxious about surgery and post-operative life
Additional Information
- Reliable transportation is expected
- Candidates outside local range must agree to commute or relocate within range for the contract and potential permanent hire
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Clinician will not be required to float outside scope to meet facility needs
