Radiation Therapy Job Opportunity

Location: Rapid City, South Dakota

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: 5 years preferred (minimum 3-5 years in Radiation Oncology)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Patient Population & Workload

• Outpatient clinic setting (98-99% outpatient)
• Average of 65 patients per day
• Treats all cancer types including Lung, Breast, Brain, Head/Neck, GYN, metastatic disease, and Lymphomas
• Patient Ratios:

  • 2 therapists per treatment machine (2:1)
  • 2 therapists per CT simulation (2:1)

Required Certifications & Education

• BLS certification
• ARRT Licensure (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• SD State Licensure not required
• Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program eligible for ARRT (T) certification

Skills & Equipment Experience

• Required Therapies/Skills:

  • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
  • Tomotherapy (Accuray Tomotherapy experience required)
  • External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT)
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
  • Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)
  • RADIXACT experience preferred

• Required Equipment Experience:

  • Accuray Tomotherapy HI.ART
  • Varian True Beam treatment machine with Mosaiq system

• Preferred Equipment Experience:

  • Siemens CT Simulator GO.PRO scanner
  • Accuray RADIXACT

Department Support Team

• Supervisor of Radiation Therapy
• Chief Physicist
• 2 Medical Physicists
• 2 Dosimetrists
• 3 Radiation Oncologists
• 8 Radiation Therapists
• 2 RNs
• 2 LPNs

Charting & Systems

• Mosaiq system (required)
• Epic (preferred)

Work Schedule & Orientation

• Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days of 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• No weekend rotation, no on-call, no holiday work required
• Orientation: 2 days (online and in-person with supervisor)

Additional Information

• May float to support department transport duties, always with another therapist

• Must live at least 100 miles from any facility in the system to qualify as a traveler
• Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
