Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (1st Time Travelers Not Accepted)
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Unit Beds: 36
- Float Requirement: Must float to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Weekend Shifts: Half of scheduled shifts are weekends

- Med/Surg, MS/Telemetry
- Colostomy care
- Feeding tube management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
- Accessing ports
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draw
- Peripheral line management
- Phlebotomy

- Care for spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injury
- Ortho trauma and total joint replacements
- Surgical drains management

Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification - Preferred
Additional certifications may be required as applicable:
- PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), CPI
Documentation & System Requirements
- Documentation system: EPIC (required)
- Skills checklist: Unit specific, required annually
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Background & Verification
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification required (highest level)
- Employment and work history verification (7 years)
- State license verification (primary source)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
Additional Notes
- Local travelers from specified counties in Texas are not accepted
- Must have valid Driver’s License/State ID
- Must complete required competency exams with minimum passing scores
- Clear headshot photo required for badge
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with orthopedic and med/surg skills who meet the certification and health requirements and have prior travel contract experience.
